Learning & Development Officer
How long have you been at KWL? Has anything changed since you started?
I started working for KWL in 2007, although I have been with Building Services since around 2005. The way we work is constantly changing; the latest change is working towards a paperless environment. We are in the process of scanning all filed documents to decrease the need for storage of paperwork.
What does your job entail and what training aids do you use?
Angela and I arrange the yearly training plan for all of KWL employees, by liaising with managers/supervisors and keeping up to date with Health & Safety legislation. We are currently working alongside Rivo to develop their system to be able to organise training more efficiently.
What’s new with Training for 2011?
We are continuing to roll out the Multi Skilling training, we have made a good start on the Plastering and Tiling units and are just finalising the next two units, Plumbing and Boarding Up, which will hopefully start to be rolled out early next year.
What training opportunities are there available for KWL staff and how would they approach this?
Managers/Supervisors should be approached in the first instance, and if necessary a request is passed along to the training section, who will source further details and prices from one of our local training providers.
What do you enjoy most about working at KWL?
I enjoy the friendly atmosphere, if a job needs doing everybody will help to make sure it’s done.
